MYOB Business Essentials accounting software includes easy-to-use sections and marvelous reports; you can easily build and send reports across the Internet on any topic, in any format. Also, MYOB has an extra feature called the Card File; here you can create detailed profiles for all your clients and contacts.

Ease of Use:   Excellent

MYOB organization is intuitive; the Command Center makes everything easy to find. I appreciated the step-by-step instructions that map out each accounting task. This makes managing finances easier, especially for the beginner who doesn't understand every step in each task.

MYOB is fast and easy to install and it will run with Vista. The setup was easy to understand, but it took a while to get through all the setup information.

Navigating MYOB is also simple; you can find most everything from within the Command Center. And MYOB's navigation bar gives quick access to common tools from any section in the program.

Help/Documentation:   Excellent

MYOB has excellent help. MYOB also has a quick access button attached to every screen so you can find topics quickly and in context.

Accounts Receivable:   Excellent

MYOB Accounts Receivable lets you manage your income easily-including finance charge calculation for customers. But the program lacks shipping tools, so you can't estimate shipping costs or track shipments.

Accounts Payable:   Excellent

Here you can enter purchases, pay bills, and prepare electronic payments. You can also print checks, tax forms, and purchase orders. The only tool we could not find was a way to create vendor credit memos.

Payroll:   Excellent

MYOB has every option you'll need to manage payroll, including direct deposit capabilities. The only task we felt was missing was the ability to specify employee status as active or inactive.

Inventory:   Excellent

Inventory allows you to adjust the item prices, find average costs, even organize inventory to sell kits. You can specify stocking locations and search for items based on their SKU/UPC/Item Numbers.

But there are a few features missing. You can't make drop shipments for products not in stock, and there isn't a choice to specify whether the cost method is FIFO or LIFO. Average Cost Method is the only accounting system available.

Banking:   Excellent

MYOB offers all the basic tools to track money flow, reconcile accounts, prepare and print checks, and make bank deposits.

Time Billing:   Excellent

With MYOB's Time Billing, you can do everything except Weekly Time Billing.

Job Costing:   Excellent

MYOB doesn't have a specific section titled Job Costing, but features in the Lists section cover the basic job costing tasks (such as preparing job estimates).

General Ledger:   Excellent

MYOB doesn't list General Ledger as one of its categories, but the program does have features similar to General Ledger in the Accounts Section.

Fixed Assets:   Excellent

MYOB doesn't include a Fixed Assets Section.

Summary:  

MYOB accounting software is excellent. All the tools you need to manage your business finances are right at your fingertips, easy to find.
